“The Los Angeles Community College District retained Patrick McCallum in 1998 to develop a strategic plan designed to help turn the district around. Patrick and I worked together to implement that plan after I was brought in as the LACCD Chancellor in 2001.
The results of McCallum Group’s work have been extremely helpful to the colleges. Incredible gains have been made over the years on behalf of California community colleges, their faculty and students. Patrick is, very simply, an essential part of our team. He brought together a variety of stakeholders with competing agendas and helped us to achieve consensus and agree on a common legislative agenda for most of California’s Community College districts. - Strategic planning and advice around statewide community college district issues

The inherent strength and sheer magnitude of California’s college system makes it very difficult for colleges to communicate and achieve consensus on issues. As a result, we don’t necessarily agree on everything.
